Dem calls for all NFL players to kneel during national anthem
The Hill ^ | 23 Sep 2017 | BY JOHN BOWDEN

Former Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) tweeted that she hopes all NFL players kneel during the national anthem on Sunday in response to President Trump's remarks attacking Colin Kaepernick.

Edwards, who left Congress earlier this year, called Trump a "white supremacist who squats in our White House" in her tweet.

Trump suggested at a rally Friday night for Alabama Senate candidate Luther Strange (R) that NFL players like Kaepernick who kneel during the national anthem should be fired and fans should walk out.

"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now,'" Trump said, adding, "'He is fired.'"

"When people like yourselves turn on television and you see those people taking the knee when they are playing our great national anthem – the only thing you could do better is if you see it, even if it's one player, leave the stadium," Trump added Friday. "I guarantee things will stop."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell responded to Trump's remarks on Saturday, calling them "divisive" and saying they show a "lack of respect" for the league and its players.

“Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities," Goodell said.

If it happens and then all owners fire the players what a glorious day that would be. The end of pro football.

Oh, believe me, I’ll do everything I can do to assist in the demise of the Dems. They are truly the Enemy Within.

I lost respect for the NFL a long time ago.

Thank you Ds, you have fallen right into DJTs trap. I’ve not seen anything as politically clever since Nixon’s Southern Strategy.

Or in short, Trump is playing Grandmaster level chess while the Left is playing tiddly winks. Trump set the trap to prove once and for all showing how literal pandering to the social justice warrior crowd is such a bad idea. Bill Simmons (of Grantland and The Ringer web site fame) and a number of ESPN employees tried to defend what Goodell and the NFLPA said and promptly got shouted down on Twitter and Facebook.

Ironic that a Democrat would encourage players to protest the killings of blacks in the cities Democrats run.

I find I have to agree with this. DEM players should ALL kneel not just Sunday, but every game. Until the game is gone.

Personally, I detest football BECAUSE it has become more important than anything to too many, and there is no escaping it.

The other day, Rush told this about his days in the KC Royals marketing dept. They had a sociologist come in once to help them understand their market, and he had done some serious research to back up his conclusions. To hear Rush tell it, the importance of sports to a fan is that your team never puts you down. It's good when your team wins, but even when they don't, you can still pull for them and hope for next time, and the team always accepts your support.

I can see how that would work: in effect, fans are regarded as team members without uniforms, playing their positions in the stands while a game is on, and anywhere they happen to be the rest of the time.

Playing the anthem at the beginning of the game is a reminder that even though "our" team and "your" team are all about to go medieval on each other for the next several hours, that clock will eventually run out and this shared allegiance with which we started will still remain.

These protests are directly denying that.

If the conflict does not end with the play clock, then it's not sport anymore. No wonder people turn it off.

Because war is not a spectator sport.

“For the first time in decades I am not watching one nfl game this weekend”

I’ll bet millions of wives are delighted that their men are giving up football and will thus have more time for family interaction or to get work done around the house. They are getting their men back to do other things with their families. A win win, pimp the NFL and at the same time give a large block of time back to their loved ones.

Did Donald Trump’s failed NFL ownership bid pave the way for his presidency?

I have given up on the NFL and I’m not much of a NASCAR fan but I might become one. I have always liked drag racing but never see it on TV anymore, seldom even the highlights. I Googled “why isn’t there any drag racing on tv anymore”. The first thing that came up on Google was this, what kind of agenda are they running, really, what the Hell?

I understand the bell curve.

I think you are created with a certain level of intelligence. But I think that can be increased by:

1) nutrition (even in the womb)
2) nurture (a safe, structured childhood with encouragement in all areas of development, emotional bonding, lots of healthy play)
3) health (not totally controllable but if your parents are careful to keep you out of the street, get your checkups, make sure you brush your teeth. . .)
4. example (parents - and I mean BOTH, IN THE HOME, being involved with you, developing your interests, and DISCIPLINING you towards various types of success. Particularly, reading. Limiting of screen time.
5. Good education - your school or home school
6. the absence of war, or major trauma, and serious abuse
7. expectations. the expectations of your close family, your neighbors, your friends.

Repeat these positively for a generation or three and I think you’ll see the bell curve even up quite nicely. I believe those on top of this curve have simply taken advantage of these important leverages.

An Ashkenazi jew who is abused as a child, or not given good nutrition, or has a seriously traumatic childhood, or a terrible car accident, etc., or who is maybe adopted into a non Ashkenazi Jew family with lower expectations for some reason. . .

will almost certainly not be on top of that curve.

Liberals have tried to deceive everyone into thinking the empty stadiums are because liberals are boycotting for the sake of Caperdink. Trump just took that lie away from them!!!

I wonder how the National Felons League would do without their anti trust exemption?

Long past time to remove antitrust exemptions from all professional sports. They are businesses, nothing more. They should be treated like any other business.

If the NFL does that, I’m more than okay with their choice. Accelerating the demise of an anti-American organization is a good thing.

That’s nice and hopful, but the ‘cream floats to the top’ in a macroscopic view of human achevement. Has reverse racism, income redistribution, welfare,SNAP, WIC, free college and affirmative action really improved the American black masses?
