The Senate Thursday approved on a largely party line vote a budget bill that would repeal Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood, two top priorities of Republicans who control the chamber.
By voting to nullify Obamacare -- the signature domestic accomplishment of the Obama administration -- GOP congressional leaders fulfilled a longtime pledge to voters and rank-and-file members to get a repeal to President Barack Obama's desk, even though he will veto it.
While the House and Senate have voted scores of times to repeal portions of Obamacare, this was the first time they are using a special tool known as "budget reconciliation" that allow the measure to clear the Senate with just 51 votes instead of the 60 votes typically required for major legislation. That higher threshold has allowed Democrats to block all past repeal efforts.

Republican leaders in Congress have a long list of agenda items they want to pursue after Donald Trump becomes president, and repealing Obamacare is one of the most important.
“Its a pretty high item on our agenda,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters at a press conference in the Capitol Wednesday afternoon. “And I would be shocked if we didnt move forward, keeping our commitment to the American people.”
House Speaker Paul Ryan likewise reiterated House Republicans’ commitment to repealing the 2010 law. “This Congress, this House majority, this Senate majority has already demonstrated, has already proven were able to pass that legislation and put it on the presidents desk,” Ryan noted during a press conference in Wisconsin.

Now you are the useful idiot.
You can’t see the nose on your face. As you are being told by multiple Freepers, that is the point. Congress only passed a repeal when they knew it wouldn’t work. They will not pass a bill like that now even if you hold your breathe until you turn blue. Why don’t you take some time off to get your head together. Either this bill passes or millions of people will go without healthcare insurance because they can’t afford the policies and the high deductible. Nothing else will change at all except that Congress will pass laws to send more subsidies to insurance companies.
And you can pat yourself on the back and say well they should have repealled Obamacare.
This Bill is not perfect but it is a very decent first step on the road to getting the Government out of healthcare and redeveloping a private marketplace.
Mom said my Daddy was a half-wit, but there are times my better half thinks I’m a complete idiot.
Bless her heart.
Good post. Make them think.
D-uhh dang, how come I never make no Honor roll?

If we are now discussing Lindsey’s bill before the Senate, that we all know does nothing to rid us of Obama care, I’m not quite sure I buy into the half step to real repeal. Leave the damn thing to hang itself and the democrats for voting for it, would be my first inclination.
We all do not know that at all. You are entitled to your opinion. Just not the Royal We.
Deep down they love their exemptocrat status. Look at the current proposal.. full of taxpayer bailout money for insurance companies! That should tell you thaey have been bought and paid for!
