So you take your front door off, say to paint it, and the next thing you know you’ve got Mormon elders on your couch, window salesman measuring from the inside and Jehovahs’ Witnesses rummaging through your fridge.

A wall or doors by themselves accomplish nothing. They can and will be bypassed. One must have both wall and human intervention backup. With a private home, that is an alarm system, neighborhood watch, house-sitter, etc.
