Police in the US state of Georgia have shot and killed an LGBT student activist, leading to an independent investigation. Police encountered Scout Schultz at a campus in Atlanta after a call about "a person with a knife and a gun" late on Saturday, officials say. Footage has emerged apparently showing Schultz, 21, refusing to obey multiple police commands to drop a knife. Schultz's mother said police should not have used lethal force. In a video filmed by fellow students at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Schultz is heard saying "Shoot me!" while continuing to advance on the officers. One of them then opens fire. Schultz - who identified as neither male nor female - did not appear to be holding a gun, investigators said, despite what was initially reported to police.
The computer engineering student later died in hospital, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said. No police officers from the Georgia Tech Police Department (GTPD) were injured in the incident. The officer who opened fire has not been named. Schultz's mother Lynne later said Scout, who was born Scott Schultz, was politically active in progressive causes, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. She added that Schultz had numerous medical issues, suffered from depression and had attempted suicide two years ago. "Why didn't they use some nonlethal force, like pepper spray or Tasers?" she was quoted as saying by the newspaper. Schultz was the president of the Pride Alliance at Georgia Tech. "We are all deeply saddened by what has occurred," the group said in a statement. "They have been the driving force behind Pride Alliance for the past two years," the group said, using Schultz's preferred pronoun. "They pushed us to do more events and a larger variety events."

So sad that LGBT AND their condition was rendered not to be a mental disorder yet they have so many mental problems. What irony!
The police are not obligated to use non-lethal force when faced with armed perp.
Maybe she ought to be charged. She let him run around knowing he had serious problems.
Time to start flipping the victimscript back on them.
Barry’s Organizing for Action is cranking out the freaks.
The feel good story of the day! Thanks!
Also if a person is distressed about having LGBT feelings, instead of addressing them, the person is told to embrace it.
I think that is what I just said.
I also think that just because they can, doesn’t mean they should. I also agree with his Mother. Why didn’t they use pepper spray?
“They have been the driving force behind Pride Alliance for the past two years,” the group said, using Schultz’s preferred pronoun. “They pushed us ... “
He=she wanted to be called `they’. That’s crazy talk.
A teaser would have done the job.
“The computer engineering student...”
Thankfully our computers will not be affected by zed.
Homosexuality seems to have some serious mental issues that appear hard to impossible to resolve.
“They have been the driving force behind Pride Alliance for the past two years “
“’ ‘They’ pushed us to do more events and a larger variety of events.”
Being gay did not make him happy.
Maybe she's the reason he had serious problems.
Involuntary institutionalization is very difficult to obtain.
Even for paranoid-schizophrenics.
Dead snowflake, nothing wrong with that.
Perfectly stated.
Well Mom, maybe you and the Dindus can get off your asses and invent a freakin freeze-ray then. Until then you can join the cops and wrestle around with knife wielding lunatics for $17.50 an hour. Deal?
