If the primary requirement for your replacement at work is the color of their skin, then you JUST MIGHT be a token...
I see more blacks on the news in various capacities in my area (northeastern NJ), and I don’t assume they are tokens; I think they are there to appeal to the last bastion of TV viewers. Many smart people get their news (including weather, traffic, etc.) elsewhere now; they don’t have to wait ten minutes in a broadcast for the next traffic or weather segment. My only real complaint about some of these people is that they include some heavy black women that weigh in far larger than any white/Asian/Hispanic woman would ever be allowed; I guess that is just part of the lowered expectations.
