I couldn't begin to fathom the mind that wouldn't pause to reflect; "hey, that's a bit odd".

This error, goes beyond the garbage put out with "auto-correct dependency issues".

We are in a era with technology that allows anyone to instantly check the veracity of a claim or figure...

I actually find it VERY scary. We live in an age when supposedly educated people, even some who hold advanced degrees, routinely say and write things that make absolutely no sense whatsoever! I’m not talking about opinions, I mean such absurdities as “500 times less”, “3000 percent lower” and others just as crazy. Worst of all when you point it out to some of them they actually defend such idiocy. What is going on? How did this kind of stupidity get a foothold?

One of my favorites is the liberal who told my wife that she is convinced that homosexuality is inherited. Her “reasoning” was that she had seen a story about two identical twins, one of whom was heterosexual, while the other was homosexual. She said that that PROVES that it is something that is inherited! Maybe I’m stupid but I say that, if that proves anything, it proves that homosexuality is NOT inherited, if it were wouldn’t both identical twins be gay? How can she reach the opposite conclusion?

Much of what I see written now, even on FR, is impossible to decipher, often I cannot even determine whether the writer even knew what he intended to write, forget about trying to figure out the meaning of what he did write.

People are proud. Their gadgets try to correct them. And we wind up with casually-produced "writing" with errors introduced by both authors and their digital assistants.
