Hurricane Irma: Pope Francis condemns climate change sceptics
BBC News ^ | 11th September 2017 | BBC News

Pope Francis has warned history will judge world leaders who do not act as he blasted climate change sceptics in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Harvey. The pontiff said the recent storms meant the effects of climate change could be seen "with your own eyes". There have been four major Atlantic hurricanes in less than three weeks. But US Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt said it was an inappropriate time to discuss what role climate change may have played. Mr Pruitt - who has previously said he "would not agree" carbon dioxide is a primary contributor to global warming - told CNN current speculation "on the cause and effect of the storm... is misplaced". Instead, Mr Pruitt said the conversation should be focused on the clean up effort.

Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado - whose city ended up partially underwater as Hurricane Irma swept across Florida - disagreed however, telling the Miami Herald newspaper: "This is the time to talk about climate change. This is the time that the president and the EPA and whoever makes decisions needs to talk about climate change."

Hurricanes are complex, naturally occurring beasts - extremely difficult to predict, with or without the backdrop of rising global temperatures. The scientific reality of attributing a role to climate change in worsening the impact of hurricanes is also hard to tease out, simply because these are fairly rare events and there is not a huge amount of historical data. But there are some things that we can say with a good deal of certainty. There's a well-established physical law, the Clausius-Clapeyron equation, that says that a hotter atmosphere holds more moisture. For every extra degree Celsius in warming, the atmosphere can hold 7% more water.

This only goes to prove that growing up in a Marxist society does warp your mind. As a Catholic, I totally reject the idea of global warming - of course the climate changes but NOT because of mankind - and reject the Pope’s “opinion”.

I’m wondering if some pope in the 1930s made an outcry about the bad hurricanes and heat waves, but I suppose they were too busy getting along with Mussolini and his pal in Berlin.

Even if we, for the sake of argument, declare everything the global warming alarmists state is true...major hurricanes occurring at the peak of hurricane season is certainly not evidence of it one way or the other. Irma became so powerful and large because of an absence of wind shear and other interference allowing it to grow and develop - that is a coincidence that a powerful storm happened to be there during those ideal atmospheric conditions for strengthening and development - just a few days later or earlier the same system might not have been able to become so powerful...had it not moved over land it also would not have caused any damage - yet the damage is supposedly evidence of “climate change.” Likewise, it is a coincidence that Harvey made landfall where a high pressure system just happened to be sitting there, causing the Harvey system to stall there as a Tropical Storm and dump its heavy rain in the same area for several days on end...but for that high pressure system just happening to be there, Harvey would have continued to move, spreading its heavy rains over a much larger area...that is not evidence of climate change one way or the other...a tropical system getting blocked from moving and becoming stationary would have caused that flooding regardless of whether or not there is any “climate change.” What is this guy talking about? This is nonsense and not appropriate for him to be saying.

This Marxist pope and the douche mayor Miami think Harvey and Irma are the first two hurricanes to ever hit the U.S.

Hurricanes have been around since the dawn of time. The Spanish galleons sank in hurricanes four or five centuries
before this Social Justice Warrior pope was ever born.

His idiocy never stops.

The pope should review history. The worst hurricane to hit Texas in the last century was the Galveston Hurricane, which hit--wait for this-- Saturday September 9. 1900. 118 years ago, last Saturday. Horse and buggy days, and yes it had been hotter than hell that summer, all without benefit of emitted greenhouse gasses.

Does the Pope even realize that God told us how it all ends and it isn’t because of climate deniers?????
