Posted on 09/10/2017 2:02:02 PM PDT by NautiNurse

The entire Florida Peninsula has begun to experience Hurricane Irma following landfall at Marco Island. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Prayers for all in the storm path.

Do you contend that Tampa Bay having an unusually low tide with a weakening hurricane approaching was a negative circumstance, too? To me, it was a positive.

It’s not always the case that asking a question indicates not knowing the answer.

I think you are hopeless, at least for this evening.

If there is anything in your mind that equates what happened in Tampa Bay with “an unusually low tide”, then you should seek either education or help. You are clueless.

the storm was not hyped....we all got caught up in the coverage, well that's on us...

all the cautions were well intended and probably saved a bunch of lives...

I'm glad there were so many warnings...

the coverage was a great teaching tool for all of us....how to be prepared for one...

God bless all our freepers and their families and friends caught in Irma or in Houston....and all others as well...

Every voice should be heard.

You can never disagree with the doomsday crew and their IRMA hysteria/excitement. You’re correct in that there appears to be a creepy voyeuristic nature in some who wanted to see destruction happen. Or why would they get angry as hell when others point out Irma wasn’t as bad as predicted?

Down trees, losing electricity and some flooding is not fun of course it’s horrible for people, but that can and does happen with run of the mill summer storms for those living in places like Florida.

We should be thankful Irma wasn’t as bad as predicted in Florida, because it could have been a real disaster.

Excuse me but your comment is bullshit. The space coast evacuees’ homes were hit by probably close to a foot of unrelenting rain over just a few hours, then once the ground was well saturated, the hurricane and tropical force winds came. For 6-8 hours.

Los of missing and damaged roofs, whole blocks of residences flooded, fences torn up and blown away, and now no power.

It’s “not much damage”, unless it’s your stuff. Will they be seeing you down there, helping them clean up and make repairs?

It can’t take to long or be much work for you, since you already know how little damage the hurricane caused. Maybe you’ll even have time to go help the folks in central Florida who “just” got some water and wind damage.

Well its the same couple of posters on here tonight attacking and stirring sh*t like last night, fighting with anyone who disagrees with their opinion.
And for the record the one you’re calling a “know it all”
is not who I’m talking about.

Good night. This thread is ruined again by the usual suspects.

While I may disagree with some of your opinions, I commend you for your grammar and vocabulary. Sometimes the English teacher in me exhibits itself.

I think it was worse that expected in downtown Jacksonville. North and South Bank flooded pretty bad.

As with any severe weather event, you CANNOT wait until it starts or you are in the middle of it to see if it’s really going to be as bad as forecast to decide to get out or not. At that point, you are better off staying than going out.

There were MILLIONS of people who had to make the decision to stay or leave and they had a long drive and limited availability of routes to take to get out.

If they all waited until the last minute to get out, there would have been many more in the process of evacuating, or even worse, caught on some casueway with a storm surge coming in and washing people off to their deaths.

You just can’t evacuate that many people in a day or two.

Better that they got out and find out later that they didn’t need than stay and live, or not, to regret it.

It’s so easy to criticize after the fact.

I agree, but Fatima has been like this throughout her posting history in FR.
Why anyone co-signs her sh*tty attitude is beyond me.

Thank you yet again for your charm and erudition. I do suggest, however, that you take your terminology concerns up with others.

JAX flooding was predicted. It was forecast the entire state was going to be destroyed. lol

Not laughing at JAX but it was a little over the top with the hysteria heading up to IRMA hitting mainland FLA. Most of the Keys are okay too. AND THAT IS A GOOD THING!!

It’s a free app that saved lives and dispatched rescues when regular comms failed.

I don’t apologize to you or anyone else for getting the word out about that.

Please take your screeching and caterwauling back to the catholic threads and let people on this thread enjoy the free exchange of ideas.

And learn to type.

Nobody is angry that it wasn’t as bad as expected.

But I don’t expect you to get it either.

You’re too full of yourself to listen to what others are saying.

Did you mean to reply to me?

The mention of a “know it all” person was about my brother, nobody on this forum. Am I confused, or are you?
