Aaron Rodgers defends Colin Kaepernick, says embattled QB ‘should be on a roster’

Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers said former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick “should be on a roster right now” but said he is not “because of his protests” during the playing of The Star Spangled Banner.

Rodgers told ESPN he thinks Kaepernick should play in the NFL, but he believed the former quarterback’s national anthem protests were keeping him from a job.

"I think he should be on a roster right now," Rodgers said. "I think because of his protests, he's not."

Rodgers, 33, said he would not sit during the anthem, as some NFL players have done as a sign of support for Kaepernick. Rodgers, however, defined Kaepernick’s protests as being “peaceful and respectful.”

"I'm gonna stand because that's the way I feel about the flag -- but I'm also 100 percent supportive of my teammates or any fellow players who are choosing not to," Rodgers said. "They have a battle for racial equality. That's what they're trying to get a conversation started around.”

When asked how he felt about Kaepernick’s reason for protesting, Rodgers said it was difficult to place himself in Kaepernick's shoes.

Rumor has it he's a switch-hitter too. No, I'm not talking about the baseball reference either.

Colin gets signed by the Packers I'm done. I'm debating if I should even watch them this Sunday at the bar.

No, he’s not on a roster because he’s lazy and has a crazy loud mouthed muzzie gf who is filling his larger head with stupidity. Bet Aldon Smith is counting his lucky stars to be rid of her.

I think the solution is for the NFL to form a new expansion team, “The Kneelers”, which would accept only SWJ players of various stripes, regardless of talent.

The Kneelers would be the Not America’s team, true villains that real NFL fans hate and always root against no matter what.

That was his team’s record. He started 11 times and only came up with one win.

Maybe Kaepernick should start an Irma fund like JJ Watt did with Harvey. Reach out to a future potential fan base.

Let Kaepernick find out just how popular he really is with football fans.

And since they’re committed to their cause, the team wont have to pay them as much.

Pro sports are big entertainment business. Lotta bucks.

Athletes are performers who get paid very big bucks because the audience is willing to pay to see them. In a business sense the athlete’s playing ability is a secondary consideration. Yes, teams need to win, but they have to draw paying customers either way. Winning just helps.

When the “audience” refuses to pay to see a performer, his talent does not determine his value to the business. In this case, the customer is indeed always right.

With as much antipathy as Kaepernick has engendered among the folks who foot the bill for the NFL circus, he would literally have to be a franchise maker to compensate for being such an ignorant ahole. He’s not that good. And the longer he is idle, the further away he gets.

I am sick of pro sports serving crap sandwiches to the public and expecting us to pay for them and eat them with a smile. These people are trying to make us out a bad guys for not taking Kaepernick’s crap.

It’s not about winning, it’s about selling tickets and merchandise. Kapernick could be the second coming of Tom Brady and he would not be playing anywhere right now. Kapernick is poison to the NFL and any team that would sign him.

Hey, Aaron—here’s an idea—you step aside and let Colin take your spot on the Green Bay roster.

I mean—after all—the economy is on the mend and you should be able to find gainful employment elsewhere.

Putz.

Well A Rod effed up last year being hooked up to that bimbo which screwed up his whole teams efforts through much of the season. So maybe

A Rod had better shut up. And yes, I am a Packer fan, but, there was talk around up there last year, that if he didnt get straightened up that they should trade his ass.

Green Bay generally doesnt put up with crap and after the number 4 debacle...they REALLY dont want to put up with it.

The NFL should find another nation to be the football league of since they don’t like this one.
