The only good part about going up the spine is that it could make landfall in the everglades. Eye wall damage there would be minimal, but the Keys will probably be cut off for awhile. They estimate it would be Cat 1 when crossing into Georgia. CAT 3 or 2 over Orlando. Add the twisters to that mix and big trouble.

Family just let me know....

Jacksonville local weather saying they are now due to have a Category 1 hurricane over them, with winds inland of 75 mph+, and higher winds at the coast...... Rainfall still predicted to be heavy, but now wind is more of a focus.

...The track of the storm shifted 30 miles west from where it was, and the category went from a 3, just off the coast and almost over us, to a 1......

As mentioned by most of the weather people, there will still be more adjustments to the track, and intensity, of the storm as it goes over Cuba and gets closer to Miami....... Once going over land, up the state, ‘it loses a category in strength about every 6 hours’......

She adds.... We still have many, many people on our highways evacuating from the southern part of the state and some are staying in hotels here, which are filling up, or are filled to capacity.
