Oddly this storm was predicted in a old John McDonald novel named Condominium.

MacDonald used to live on Siesta Key, just south of Sarasota. He was quite familiar with all South Florida, and most of the Travis McGee series were very vivid in describing the area. Bright Orange for the Shroud used Marco Island, Naples, Everglades City, and the Ten Thousand Islands as the setting.

The book , A Flash of Green is about the crooks involved in the development of Bird Key off Sarasota .

His home was on the south tip of Siesta Key near that closed Midnight Pass .

Lots of great novels by John M in his time .

My Dad loved John MacDonald’s books. He had a ton of them. Coincidentally, today is Dad’s birthday. He would’ve been 88 today if he were still alive. Thanks for reminding me of one of his favorites. I haven’t thought about those books in years. Happy Birthday, Dad! Miss you!
