I wonder how many people evacuated the east coast and went to the west?
Many thousands of people evacuated the east coast to go to the west coast, including the Gulf coast barrier islands.
That’s a good question. I would guess that a good number of them only went to the middle of the state, but who really knows? My sister in Gainesville told me last night that it feels like there are more people there than usual for storms. She said traffic has been terrible for days, since Tuesday. During other hurricanes, it’s gotten busier, but she said this has been much worse than previous canes.
More than you’d believe. But the couple I know went to friends and family inland from Tampa Bay by a good 15 miles. Said lots of south Floridians on the road with them. But, another friend flew up to Atlanta from Tarpon Springs. He’s really concerned- beautiful house on a little bay or canal.
She’s perking up now, eh?
Early on a lot of us thought that was the right thing to do.
