OK NN and everyone, I just got a panicked call from my sister who is in Tampa-St Pete presently with her son, his wife and two small children....she just asked me if they should leave?

My brother in Texas said she should leave.

Will you guys please advise us. I told her I would relay your inputs.

Zone A under mandatory evacuation. How close is she to that?

In Tampa as well. I’m riding it out. If you are not in a evacuation zone and in a well-built home (not a mobile/manufactured home, etc) you are fine where you are. The reasonable expectation is 80-100 mph gusts with some damage and likely power outage for 2-3 days.

Leaving at this point, with the traffic and gas situations being what they area, is not a great idea. If anything, have them go to a local shelter if they are not comfortable with their situation.

Where would your sister and the family go? Are they in a location that flooded already this summer? Some areas around the bay are better than others.

If she has time to get out safely, then yes. She will probably get the brunt of it.

Blam, this thing still has an unknown quantity about it...
In my humble opinion:
It is just as likely to hit your sister in Tampa
as it is to hit you in Mobile.
Her problem now would be in getting out (traffic, gasoline, etc.)
