I’m glad your UPC’s worked. That sort of thing can cause a lot of damage.
For some reason, a little before 6 am this morning, we had a quickie blackout. Everything connected to the UPC’s stayed on.
I use high end circuit breakers for all our electrical products. An engineer with PG&E, is like another son. He recommended the high end circuit breakers year ago.
Before the smart meter arrival, we were ready to buy a natural gas emergency generator just to keep everything going with all the blackouts we used to have,
This young man told us to wait until the smart meters were installed before we went for that big expense.
Now the blackouts are rolling blackouts and seldom last more than a few minutes. Of course that creates problems with routers, wifi and things dependent on steady electricity.
So far so good.
I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine at night while sleeping. Due to the advice of the same young man, I have a high end circuit breaker plugged in the socket, a good size UPC with another redundant circuit breaker plugged into that circuit breaker with a simple on off circuit breaker switch to use at night with nature calls. That has worked very well.
