Robert E. Lee statue Published September 06, 2017 Fox News The Dallas City Council voted 13-1 to remove the statue of Robert E. Lee from its namesake park in Oak Lawn The Dallas City Council voted 13-1 to remove the statue of Robert E. Lee from its namesake park in Oak Lawn (Fox 4 News) A temporary restraining order Wednesday spared a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee from being taken down just hours after the Dallas City Council signed off on the removal.
Work began an hour later to remove the statue. A crane was moved into place and workers put straps over the sculpture to be removed. But their work was halted at 4:30 p.m. when a district court judge granted a temporary restraining order to the Texas division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

They sprung a sham vote this afternoon around 2:00 pm and had a crane onsite in LESS than two hours ($50,000.00 + expense).
They got slapped down at 4:30 p.m. when a district court judge granted a temporary restraining order to the Texas division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Some of the SoCV members concerned are black.
I wonder if this will slow things down and bring back the sane to the insane on this msm overhyped crap.
Otherwise, all statues, monuments, streets, towns, etc., for Lincoln need to come down. Abraham Lincoln:
"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that."

We need to see more of this. Did I see where Alabama passed a law making it illegal to remove historical monuments relating to the Civil War? If so, WHY aren’t we seeing more of this??
Actions of the past are found offensive and result in statues being removed, ignorance of people not learning from history is even more repulsive, and their actions are eternally offensive
It depends on the Judge.
Form WiKi...
“On January 29, 1986, Sidney Allen Fitzwater was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to a seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas”
At least it is not a sham judge doing this.
.
I don’t see how they can do it at all.
All CSA vets are classified as U.S. Military veterans.
By LAW.
.
Wow! They could have rented a crane, didn’t have to buy it!
Wow, talk about being ready to go. They must have been planing this month in advanced given it takes the city years to do anything.
The mayor of Dallas is a jackass. And that is not all he is. He is an ignorant, incompetent and anti-American piece of liberal trash.
That is a guesstimate for crane, crew, supplies, tractor trailer with driver and warehouse storage at a undisclosed location.
Ought to be kind of close.
.
For a crane, crew, supplies, tractor trailer with driver and warehouse storage at a undisclosed location. The good Mayor will probably claim it only took a couple of phone calls.
I wonder where the money came from?
.
Because we have a bunch of cowards that should KNOW what you just said and through their cowardice, don’t speak up and take a stand.........imho
Listening to local radio talking about lying Mayor Mike Rawlings’s part in this.
Cost is actually above $500,000.00, not 50k.
The crane was on-sight BEFORE the vote.
Rawlings did not let the “study commission” finish their work as the crane was not powerful enough to lift it and not big enough by six feet.
City council members emails indicate the statues were going to be removed BEFORE they cast the “vote”.
“Study Commission” member was quoted as stating “they were not finished” and had presented NO alternative scenarios.
50 speakers were scheduled for comments of one minute each before the vote.
Didn’t totally happen.
.
Nothing like proglib comrat mayors and city council members eh??
.
George Orwell wrote about the totalitarian takeover of government in novels such as 1984.
A key part of totalitarian takeover he wrote about is the observation written decades ago.
“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”
That could be ripped right out of today’s news.
The statue of R.E. Lee and his aide in Lee Park in Dallas, both on horseback, is strikingly beautiful.
Here’s another perfect example of Orwellian revisionism of history as a quote from a Dallas County councilman,
“ ”These monuments represent a false telling of history.”
Really?
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered.
And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped.
Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right....George Orwell, “1984”
White Supremacists view Lee as a traitor, they would like nothing more
The restraining order has been dissolved. Removal of statue is underway.
