Wife’s aunt was evacuated during Charlie from a nursing home in Arcadia. The residents had to be moved by fire truck north to Lakeland when the roof started collapsing. Charlie spawned some large tornado’s at least one or two hit Arcadia.
Most of the nursing home residents died within a month due to the trauma of the storm/move. Wife’s aunt didn’t make it but a couple of days. We flew down for the funeral, and saw first hand the massive devastation and experienced living in a home for a couple of nights that was half collapsed. Power was still out for most of the town and heard all the stories of taking baths in ponds and neighborhood cooking of the freezer food.
Also heard the stories of price gouging for building materials - even though there was a law against it.
Thanks again for this thread.
I am off for the night.
Keep safe out there, and do try to be kind toward each other!

Oh man, how awful for your family. It was a brutal little hurricane. Older people often take the brunt of these storms.
It was a rugged summer. Seems all we did was clean up and re-prep.
