Got a brother in Naples. He’s far enough inland so storm surge shouldn’t be an issue. But I’m not sure about local inland flooding.
Current projections show the hurricane off the coast of Naples late this weekend. It looks like SW Florida will be on the right front quadrant of the storm. If memory serves me right, that’s one of the worst areas to be.
Fort Myers News-Press reports that schools will be closing on Thursday in preparation for the storm.
Dry Tortugas National Park (at the end of the Keys) is closing tomorrow. It’s a huge Civil War-era masonry fort. Looking at pictures of it, I wonder if one could ride the storm out in there and be OK. It looks solid enough. Not that I’d want to try it though.
