Katrina was definitely the epic set of storm threads. I think there were six threads, each with 1500-3000 posts. More than a million hits in total.

Do you remember on one of the K threads where that huge great white head which was at a tourist park, got washed out to sea and looked like a..... Carcarridon.. carcarius.. pre-historic gargantuan GW the Coast Guard snapped a shot of ?

When K pics started to resemble the Sumatra 9.1 I had to take a break.

Those threads were phenomenal. Pre-twitter. I actually knew a couple of guys doing big-time logistical aftermath work that scanned our Katrina threads several times a day.

Historical, truly. But a different world, tech-wise.
