Yep, that was the first thing I did, found a good site to study from then found a local ham radio club who would give me the test. Within a month I had my technician license; the lowest of the 3 levels but all I really need. I have no interest in buying all that expensive equipment for long distance comm’s. I’ll leave that to those who are into it as a hobby. That isn’t me. It’s a tool; that’s all.
I was on a roll and I went and took all three tests. It’s taken a few years of experience to put any of that into any practice. But I like listening to stuff from all over.
