My guess is the Carolinas will get a piece of Irma. The bigger question is will they get a direct hit? It's just too early to say yet. Even then with a small eye 50 miles makes a huge difference in storm intensity.

We have to remember it's those first ten miles of coast line when the storm first hits,if its hitting inland and not cruising along the coast, that really gets a battering.

I dunno. Seems like a low pressure might be leaving the East coast Northeast toward Europe around early next week (Sept 10/11/12). That’s likely to turn it out to sea.
