Hurricane Harvey Live Thread Part II
Various ^ | 8/26/2017 | Various

Posted on 08/26/2017 4:39:50 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport TX about 10:00PM CDT Friday night. Top sustained winds were 130mph. Rockport High School sustained heavy damage when a portion of the roof collapsed. A senior housing complex collapsed. The Rockport courthouse sustained major damage with “a cargo trailer halfway in the building.” Multiple tornadoes reported in the Houston/Galveston areas. There are reports of scattered structural fires and a shooting was reported in Corpus Christi. Residents along the San Bernard River were advised to evacuate and most TX Gulf coast counties are under flash flood watches.

Many locations are under a boil-water notice. Power outages are widespread. President Donald Trump promptly granted a Disaster Declaration to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s request. More than 700 members of the Texas Army and Air National Guards, Texas State Guard and the Texas Military Department have been activated and are positioning themselves throughout the state ahead of Hurricane Harvey and its anticipated landfall later this week. Ahead of the storm, FEMA sent supplies from its warehouse in Fort Worth to a staging point at Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio.

Good morning... 50 is significant for a hurricane-induced tornado: they usually don’t last that long.

Just saw the updated NHC movement forecast... this blasted thing is gonna hang around until Wednesday over the same 50 miles of space!

Edna, Texas appears to be the jackpot for rain so far - 8 inches reported as of a few hours ago. Edna is about 40 miles southwest of Houston.

At one point last night during the livefeed, when the guy was talking about going to Walmart to hide from the wind, somebody began the trend -- "just go to the blue shed". There were a few other comments referencing the blue shed that were lol funny.

San Antonio is going to be in big trouble if that forecast holds. It seems to flood every time someone spits on the ground.

Then there are parts of Austin like Onion Creek that aren’t much better.

I was watching Jeff’s periscope last night too. He dropped as the eye wall hit but came back on via Facebook when the eye was over him. at that point, he was okay. I hope he found shelter during that break.

The #blue shed.

It now deserves a commemorative plaque. At least a t-shirt? Put it in a glass case bolted to the outside of the shed.

Print up an extra bunch of shirts with image of the blue shed, and bold words to the effect;

and sell them online, and at the carwash, and maybe at other locations around town?

Thank goodness Jeff survived!!

We are still on generator. Thankfully, it is hanging in there so we have full power.

Tornadoes throughout our area. (West of Houston)

Creeks are rising or have come out of banks.

Will keep you posted, as I can.

At least they won’t get a taste of peak Texas summer heat until next year. It isn’t supposed to go over 85 degrees for the next 10 days.
