That has value, but not at the cost of a hurricane.

Wasn’t saying it was worth it. Just commenting on the situation. I’d rather have the heat, I’m gonna be cooped up for about a week with all this rain.

Models are little help in forecasting the track out more than a day or two:

Rainfall of those amounts will form new streams and rivers wouldn’t it? Certainly will change the course of some existing streams and rivers.

From the NHC:
The hurricane is moving very slowly toward the north at about 2 kt. Harvey is embedded within very light steering currents, and global models keep this weak flow in place for the next several days. Based on this pattern, Harvey could easily meander for the next 4 to 5 days over southeast Texas as indicated in the NHC forecast. The only agreement among the track guidance is that Harvey is certainly not going anywhere fast.

Walmart takes a lot of guff from a lot of people/groups, etc., but they have already activated their emergency operations center and are providing at least $1 million toward relief.

Walmart understands logistics planning as well as any organization out there, in either the public or private sectors.

This is very bad news for the Houston area, as the most prominent feeder band is probably going to be parked over it all day if not longer. And Buffalo Bayou is already rising faster than forecast.

This is why I'm dreading to see what the Texas coastline looks like five days from now.

A poster on wunderground reports structural damage in Cuero, 30 miles NW of Victoria and in the northern part of what is left of the eyewall. So there is still potential for straight wind damage for a while longer today.

And Buffalo Bayou is already rising faster than forecast.
And draining down now from this morning's dawn dump. I'm as pessimistic as the next guy, but the bayous do drain if given a chance.
