The SPLC has been a leftwing hate group since Day One.
There used to be a no borders faction here at FR that would post SPLC material. They were for Bush’s amnesty and labeled anyone who objected as racists, xenophobes, nativists, the usual. They got a lot of border patriots banned. That worm sure has turned.
Though, to their credit, one of their staff, a “Susy Buchanan”, wrote a splendid review of one of Travis McGee’s books:
