1830’s = Railroad speed warnings.
1890’s = Heads of science declared everything is solved, and ... then the atomic nucleus and radiation were discovered.
1920’s = The tectonic theory of continental drift was laughed out of the hall by geologists and science establishment when proposed
And the list goes on, and on, and on.
Though Storm Harvey is gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico, we STILL have not had a hurricane hit the US coast in the past ten years!

When I was in 2nd grade, I looked at the world map and said to my teacher, Mrs. Brady, "Look! South American fits right into Africa."
I don't remember what she said, but it looked to me way to good a fit to be a coincidence.
