Thanks for remembering to pray for animals as well as people. After Katrina, thousands of pets who made it through on their own were shipped to shelters all over the country. And the people were “temporarily” relocated to Texas.

I have a sister in a northern Houston suburb, suspect she took off early this morning.

In our area, shelters are full. For over a week we have been trying to take a dog that wandered onto our property, and keeps hanging around, to a shelter, but none can take him. He’s not quite full grown, seems trainable, & could well make a good pet, but unfortunately he goes after our chickens and is VERY strong — unless chained up, he’d eventually tear into the coop, and besides, we free range the chickens when we are around. (Super egg quality!) I may have to put “Goofy” down myself if we can’t find him a home.

Being put to sleep may be the fate of a lot of pets that survive this storm...
