The NFL has taken professional sports as entertainment and turned it into politics. As with everything else in politics, both sides will raise the stakes until the other side loses. As with everything else in politics, it is too late to withdraw from the game. No matter what they do, the NFL can no longer avoid offending a large fraction of their (soon to be former) viewers.
