I visited Coventry, and the bombed out Coventry Cathedral while I was on a bus tour of the British Isles in 2006. The city suffered terribly, losing about 800 people, with many more being injured. Industrial plants were targeted, and over 4,000 homes were destroyed leaving many homeless. I've seem film clips of Churchill visiting the site not long after the bombing.
