The phone manufacturers say it will not damage the phone.
Certainly no issue for those in totality regions. In fact, the NASA link cited appears to say that you can look at it with bare eyes in totality when it states:
“Make sure you take your solar glasses off too during totality because filters will no longer be needed!”
