Not that Chris ever landed in the US.
Of course Chris landed in the U.S.! He sailed his ships up the Congaree River and founded the city of Columbia, South Carolina, the state capital to this day and where a statue erected in his honor still stands.
OK, just kidding....except for the statue! It was unveiled in 1992 over the protests of black-caped students from two local black colleges who milled around passing out leaflets `Columbus was a genocidal killer’, etc. It stands on a pedestal taller than the statue itself. Hmm...wonder why?
That was 25 years ago. What’s in store now, I don’t know.
