Scott Adams explains TDS: ‘How to know if you’re in a mass hysteria bubble’

Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert and the pundit who best explained and predicted the Trump victory last year, diagnoses Trump Derangement Syndrome as a manifestation of the historical phenomenon of mass hysterias. As usual, there is a lot to chew on, and Adams adds his master persuader perspective to the question.

Along the way, he covers the role of cognitive dissonance in the process of creating and reinforcing the the fantasy bubble. This phenoemnon in its current manifestation was noted by Patricia McCarthy today:

Trump's press conference on Tuesday made the left's heads explode. Why? Because everything he said was absolutely true. He does not play by their tyrannical PC rules. He said what was true and that room full of puerile reporters shouting insults at him could not handle the truth. They want what they want to be true but it just is not.

TDS will make a fine modern addendum to Charles Mackay's famous book "Extraordinary Popular Delusions And The Madness Of Crowds".

Just goes to show that this was a thing long before Ghostbusters.

Some of our side should get themselves hired, and report from the inside. When going to a rally, inform where the buses will drop off and pick up. They may need a nice bon voyage party.

Have Varney and Gingrich also fallen into the mass hysteria bubble? I notice both of them are wavering this morning.

I'm not too surprised about Gingrich, but am disappointed in Varney. Thought he was more of a stand-up guy.

Now it's almost down to Rush, Sean and Mark Levin, as far as well-known conservative voices go, whom I can still respect for not backing down to Leftist bullies.

The American Thinker article is on their blog side, and it is written by Thomas Lifson, a great conservative, the one who started and keeps that site going.

They do post great conservative articles; in this one he was just telling his readership he thought Scott Adams blog post was awesome. And it was.

No harm in that. No harm in posting stuff from American Thinker, it is a great site.
