There were a number of skirmishes in the Arizona territory. One of the more humorous was fought in the saloon of Big Mike Goldwasser, Barry Goldwater's grandfather.

Big Mike had days in which Union sympathizers could come in for a drink and days for Confederate sympathizers. One day a sympathizer came in on the wrong day. Tables hit the floor, men took aim behind them and shots were fired. No one was hit. The battle concluded with Big Mike taking a club he kept behind the bar, smashing it into the head of the man who came in on the wrong day, picking him up and tossing him out of his saloon.

The next day, all his customers behaved.
