so... you are driving alone some day.. and make a wrong turn and end up right in the middle of the projects and quickly get surrounded by a 100 blacks which start to beat on your car, break your windows and then attempt to drag you out of your car:

I and my dad was in this exact situation except I made an unthinking stupid turn. ( 67 or 68...my memory on dates is shoddy.)
I had my lerner's permit and my dad let me drive his 67 Impala to my work.
I was working in downtown Chicago in the middle shift so it's maybe 15:00 hrs..
The normal route(that took us by Cabrini Green) was blocked by police and they were diverting traffic that took us away from downtown. When we asked what was going on, Cop said "keep moving".
I made a turn on a side street to get us back to the street we needed to be on.
When we got there...yikes...blacks started surrounding the car.
Chicago police were about 500 feet from them in riot gear.
A brick through the passenger window got my dad in the side as he's screaming for me to hit the gas.
Cops were just standing there. I hit the gas and we finally got out of that mess. Pretty scary and it happened in a blur and blink of an eyelash.

In this incident, that's not what was happening—yet. If it escalated to a scenario like that, then the criteria for the jury to consider would be whether a reasonable person could feel threatened—given the same situation—to the point where self-defense was justified, and to the extent that the actions taken constituted legitimate self-defense.

I don't think that defense will fly under these circumstances—but that's for a jury to decide...
