Question from a non-professional sports guy: does major league baseball have players who refuse to say the pledge of allegiance? If so, (I hope not) how can you justify supporting them?

I don’t think so. I don’t think some baseball players want to alienate their fan base, but I could see it happening.

They can do it if they want, it is a free country.

If you mean paying respects to the flag and national anthem, most teams have rules about behavior, some more strict than others. I don’t think MLB has rules though.

Players disrespecting the anthem (intentionally or not) have in the past been called out by other players and management.

Baseball players perform alone compared to the NFL, and are easier targets for those unhappy with them.
