Every single participant in the destruction of a statue should be charged with a felony, and they should each be fined the cost of replacing the statue. Let them destroy, then pay to replace, and then spend a year or two behind bars thinking about whether to riot again.

People who take it upon themselves to knock down statues of Confederates are going to be treated as heroes, particularly when the only people who show up to stop them are neo-nazis.

The police did no one any favors by standing down. Had she been arrested BEFORE she and others who defied that historic beautiful statue she would be facing simple misdemeanor charges and out on the street today. It’s almost entrapment.
