Raiders coach Jack Del Rio told SFGate.com that Lynch's disrespectful behavior is not an issue for the football team.
He said, This is something I have done for 11 years. Its not a form of anything other than me being myself, Del Rio said. I told him I very strongly believe in standing for the national anthem. But I respect him as a man and he can do his thing."
Well, that doesn't speak very well of Coach Del Rio's character either. The coach respects a man who disrespects the country?
I suspect this will not be the last episode of anti-American activity at NFL games. So I recommend head coaches take immediate action to deter such behavior.
If you ride the bench during the Star-Spangled Banner, you should ride the bench for the rest of season.
It would be a gutsy move -- but unlikely -- considering the lack of courage and patriotism in the National Football League.

This post is for all of you that support the NFL. It’s wonderful and patriotic to say and post your anger over pleayers such as Kaepernick, Lynch, Vic, etc, etc. However, when you put on your favorite jersey to watch the game, you just became one of the sheep or one of the hypocrites, take your pick.
The NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and every other professional sports organization does not care if their players are patriotic. They don’t care what the political beliefs of the fans may be. All that they care about is the money.
This is why spoiled brats that hate the very country that gave them the opportunity to play a game for a living get away with a public display of that hate. That is why animal abusers, women abusers, drug addicts, and criminals continue to play. The organizations don’t care that the players are terrible role models for our kids. They don’t care.
When the fans continue to watch, buy memoribilia and support the sport, the organization gets paid. So Kaepernick didn’t get signed. So what? Lynch will play all year whether he stands or not. Even if he gets benched or fined, the NFL rakes in the bucks.
Only the fans will change this and only if the fans will make the protest against the NFL, not against Lynch or Kaepernick.
And NFL owner has every right in the world to bench or even cut a player for not standing for the National Anthem.
And the employer of someone that attended the rally/riot in Charlottesville has every right to fire that employee.
I’vw lost all interest in the NFL, and unfortunately, I can’t find the Canadian Football on my ATT Dish program.
Their protest has nothing to do with patriotism.
It is a directed insult and intentional disrespect to the people of the United States. And by permitting this grotesque display, when they could so easily put a stop to it, the NFL is in effect joining in and adopting it as league policy.
I didn’t watch a single play last year and it looks like I won’t be watching this year either. Hopefully there will soon be sufficient pressure on the sport to put an end to it permanently.
The NFL will drop another 10% in ratings this season at least.
That will mean a 20% drop in ratings over 2 years.
Less ratings. Less revenue.
That should catch their attention.
They should go find a real job.
Also, pay attention to who advertises on NFL games and simply choose another product.
For example, buy a different beer than the ones that support the NFL.
Who Cares if the NFL is weak and impotent, this is Real Entertainment just watching the slow painful suicide of Pro Football
I havent watched an National football gamei in 2 seasons. It’s a bunch of illiterate school dropouts
True, but I've learned since this whole mess started, that the NBA is different. Now, I'm not a fan of basketball at any level, but one of the NBA rules mandates that the players and coaches stand, in a respectful manner, at either the sideline or foul line during the playing of national anthems.
The NFL is about winning. Period.
“This post is for all of you that support the NFL.”
I wholeheartedly agree with your post.
I can’t control how my elected officials vote once they are in office, I can’t control the policies and positions of the firm where I work. But I can control where I spend my time and money and the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL lost it with their politically correct positions. Ditto GM and Chrysler.
It shouldn’t fall on the coach. . .it’s the responsibility of the one who signs the checks and the one who enforces the policies of the league, period.
NFL wants to commit suicide.
Fine. No skin off my nose.
I agree with your post and believe that some of these coach’s and owners are just scared of these young, big, super conditioned pro football players.
Ditto. And at this point it doesn’t hurt at all. Got other things to do with my time. Target practice at the range for one.
I thought the NFL might have learned their lesson and be trying to win back a few of the viewers that they lost last year.
Looks like I will be taking some nice long walks and doing yardwork on Sunday afternoons this fall.
My beagle, my wife, my waistline and my lawn all thank Mr. Bennett and Mr. Lynch for their foolishness.
“Target practice at the range for one.”
That’ll pay off one day soon, I’m afraid.

Think it’s done enough damage yet. Most of these followers are under age.
But the NFL can stop it, they just don’t have the guts to do it. The following is a part of the NFL player’s contracts:
PERSONAL CONDUCT POLICY
League Policies for Players
2016
It is a privilege to be part of the National Football League. Everyone who is part of the league must refrain from conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the NFL. This includes owners, coaches, players, other team employees, game officials, and employees of the league office, NFL Films, NFL Network, or any other NFL business. Conduct by anyone in the league that is illegal, violent, dangerous, or irresponsible puts innocent victims at risk, damages the reputation of others in the game, and undercuts public respect and support for the NFL. We must endeavor at all times to be people of high character; we must show respect for others inside and outside our workplace; and we must strive to conduct ourselves in ways that favorably reflect on ourselves, our teams, the communities we represent, and the NFL. To this end, the league has increased education regarding respect and appropriate behavior, has provided resources for all employees to assist them in conforming their behavior to the standards expected of them, and has made clear that the leagues goal is to prevent violations of the Personal Conduct Policy. In order to uphold our high standards, when violations of this Personal Conduct Policy do occur, appropriate disciplinary action must follow. This Personal Conduct Policy is issued pursuant to the Commissioners authority under the Constitution and Bylaws, Collective Bargaining Agreement and NFL Player Contract to address and sanction conduct detrimental to the league and professional football. It applies to players under contract; all rookie players selected in the NFL college draft and all undrafted rookie players, unsigned veterans who were under contract in the prior League Year; and other prospective players once they commence negotiations with a club concerning employment.
BTW, In my mind Marshawn Lynch was not rostered to be a player to deal with. He is being treated like the aging Babe Ruth because he can put butts in the seats from his career stats. He retired because he was beat up, and was not the same as he had been a couple of years before he walked. And he’s another one that has ignored his contract requirements because he didn’t care as the fine was chump change. But when the bounty went up, he showed up and made a mockery of it. And the league let him get away with it, for years.
