This just occurred to me recently...which part of the country was the most segregated? The North of course, because historically the North had few blacks whereas most of the black population was in the South. People in the South had more daily interactions with black people while most people in the North had few or any interactions with blacks.
I moved from the north to Virginia in the late 1970’s and found the “racist” south to be more integrated and less racist than most places north of the Mason-Dixon line.
