Thank you for your service to our country. What are your thoughts about the 1983 Able ARcher incident? I’ve read accounts that a Soviet missile officer prevented a false warning from being transmitted up the chain, which would have potentially led to a massive retaliatory strike.

Also read that the Soviets were on hair trigger alert during the NATO exercise and nearly had bombers during the exercise.
