Just how many South African last names do you know?

How many "purely" ( which is a ridiculous thing to say!) "DUTCH" last names are you aware of?

The ONLY last names, in the RSA, that are "funky" ( what are you saying, why use that silly word at all ? ), are the Dutch spelled FRENCH last names, of the Huguenots, who fled to Holland, to escape being murdered by the crazed anti-Protestant King Louis XIV, who ordered that they be slaughtered.

Actually, there is NO SUCH A THING as a "SOUTH AFRICAN" last name.

There isn't an "AMERICAN LAST NAME" either!

Oh pipe down.

I’m only guessing, based on a very sharp ear for sounds in general and including language. Not very educated, though. Just instinct.

“Gheluwe” does not look typical Dutch-like to me, which is a Germanic language and looks NOTHING like German (which I AM educated in reasonably). It’s too “soft” looking if you will.

But maybe I’m wrong.

Not that it’s really important, FGS. The guy is American, no doubt.
