And if I can alter reality by force, then I have ultimate control over the public sphere.
The same thing applies to homo "marriage." If I pretend that two men buggering each other is the equivalent of the most fundamental institution in all of history, and I can use the power of law -- the threat of violence -- to insist that you at least mouth your acceptance, then I control your social interactions; you do not.
