What’s an acceptable number of American lives and treasure you’d give up to destroy North Korea? One hundred thousand? One million? Ten million? How about South Koreans and Japanese? I’m not arguing with you, just trying to understand your understanding of the cost/benefit.
As many as it takes.
Because it will be fewer today than tomorrow.
And, it is a war we cannot forever avoid. It will come, no matter our best efforts to appease and/or ignore.
It’s best to get it done on our terms.
Oh, and Japanese and SKorean lives and treasure cannot be part of the equation. If they wanted their interests to be counted they should have developed their own strategic weapons.
It’s in the existential, strategic interests of the US to eliminate this threat.
Better them than us.
Because the alternatives are worse and will only escalate in that direction if the world stands by and watches NK develop systems that can hit anywhere on the planet all while developing more defensive capabilities.
There is no choice from my perspective.
