Can someone please explain why 60 votes are required?

It takes only 51 votes to pass a bill—if it comes up for a vote. Under Senate rules, a bill can't come up for a vote without 60 votes to end a filibuster.

I covered this many months ago. But FR folks continue to post inaccurate answers such as the prior. I will probably have to repeat the answer over the next couple years, until people learn.

60 Votes is a scam that gives significant advantage to the Democrat Party. Republicans follow along to remain in power as the minority party. The reason is thus ...

Look at the history of Congress going back 150 years.
Democrats FREQUENTLY surpass 60 votes.
Republicans RARELY surpass 60 votes.
The result is ever bigger Government by passing leftist laws more frequently.

60 vote is arbitrarily unfair.

This is why the U.S. Constitution ONLY requires a plurality, NOT a majority and especially NOT a high 60 vote super majority. 60 is UNFAIR and UNEQUAL as it creates a Socialist Society.

Unfortunately the average citizen person is numerically illiterate and must be told repeatedly.

Rules are not law, and statutory law is not Constitutional law. 60 is dangerous nonsense. 51 is also not required.
Only plurality is rightly required so that governing law changes every 2, 4 and 6 years, not decades. (c) TheNext

So the 60 votes is just a b.s. Senate rule and Yertle the Turtle could change the rules if he wanted to?
