Down here in southern FL we've been getting a lot of daily thunderstorm activity for the past month or so. It "feels" like a bit higher than other years, more like it was in 2013-2014. My completely unscientific theory is that lots of daily activity leading into the season acts like sort of a relief valve, and in those years we wind up with fewer hurricanes.
On the other hand, I could be totally clueless... and we'll just to wait and see!
