The simplest scenario was the Mafia. They were at their height of power. They had gotten Kennedy elected and he turned on them, using Robert to go after them. The Mafia was not well-known for keeping their members in check.

But Oswald was an odd choice so he got clipped to keep him from talking.

You are right about that:

John Kennedy’s father, Joseph Kennedy, worked with the mob his whole life.

That’s why Giancana and Daley held up the turn in of the Cook County vote for over 24 hours and then gave Kennedy the exact number of votes from their Cook County to win the entire state of Illinois.

They expected the favor returned once JFK was in. Instead he betrayed them. Bad people to betray. They hit back.

FBI man Roemer wrote that he was sure Chicago mob hitman Harry Aleman killed Kennedy.

Aleman was the best shot in the world with a rifle at long distance, came from a group that had the motive, and was gone from from Chicago for over a week during the time JFK was killed.

Sam Giancana said, “Joseph Kennedy was the biggest crook I ever dealt with.”

NY mobster Frank Costello said, “I made Joe Kennedy his money.”

With his connections Joseph Kennedy brought European liquor to the US where Costello and others rebottled it during Prohibition.
