I recently graduated from CSU (ahem... Cleveland State University) with a bachelors in electrical engineering.
This drove me nuts while working toward my degree. I argued with my counselor that if I was required to take several humanities classes - read black studies - for my engineering degree, then the liberal arts students should be required to take calculus. I lost that fight, of course.

You made a very good, common-sense argument, which of course means that it was rejected by the politically-correct faculty. It is so frustrating to see my students being forced to take indoctrination courses, which they do not want, and which are of no value to them. They waste time, cost money, and pollute minds. Those courses survive only because they are required for a degree. It is a racket.
