Yep. Lots of examples out there, I’m sure. That’s a good one. Here in Florida the lawmakers so graciously allowed us to vote on whether or not the police could ticket you for not wearing a seatbelt— provided they had stopped you for something else. It wasn’t long before the law was changed to “Click It OR Ticket” suckers! They now run commercials using that as their slogan.

They always exploit these opportunities and we just keep falling for it lock, stock, and barrel. At some point people might get smart enough to say “no thank you, I can do without that convenience”.

You know, the auto registration ideal started with the constitutional maritime powers to regulate “vessels”. They twisted this into auto registration by classifying them as “Vessels”. Most states like Ca still use the term Vessel to make it somewhat constitutional.
