Decades ago I saw “Between Time & Timbuktu” - a Vonnegut collage - on, of all things PBS. The “Harrison Bergeron” segment has stuck in my mind until this day.
Thank you very much for saving me the effort to find this story that I thought of immediately after this idiot's mental diarrhea! Truly, there is very seldom anything really new under the Sun but the persistence of these Luddites and Levelers to produce an equal outcome never ceases!
The fact is that with the Pop Culture and the 500 channels of dreck, we find ourselves celebrating the bottom and disparaging the top. Once we had celebrations of 'Great ideas' and 'Great Men' (when 'men' could be gender neutral) but now every such person or idea has to be shown with clay up to their thighs, even for the village children!
