Joy has her information inaccurate as well. In Canada, Kim Campbell was chosen at at Progressive Conservative party convention in 1993 to succeed Brian Mulroney as leader (and as Prime Minister). Three months later in October 1993, she and the PCs suffered the worst defeat in Canadian electoral history (whittled down from majority government to just two seats nationwide). There has been no female prime minister since.
