According to some, it won’t matter in 10 years because we will all be driving electric.

Alberta is treated as what we call a “have” province which means extra money is extracted from Alberta to “share” with “have not” provinces. And I shit you not, the most populous province, Ontario, was for awhile considered “have not”. So you had tiny old AB with 4 million people helping prop up healthcare in a province of 12 million.

lol..an amazing reversal of fortune. Perhaps Canada still leads in oi/nat gas production when figured on a per capita basis.

Well, let's not scapegoat the “east” in this. It is far more complicated. And Alberta proved it is less conservative than we all thought by electing a left government.

The left is Vancouver and Vancouver Island, Edmonton city, Regina city, half of Manitoba, the majority of Ontario, pretty much all of Quebec, and all of the Maritimes.

What some call the right, but really is just Centrist, is the rest of BC, rest of AB, most of Sask, and tiny shreds in Ontario.

I’m Canadian and evidence we are lost:

1) Latest poll from CTV shows Canadians are more scared of global warming (60%) than ISIS (55%) and 38% are scared of the US.

2) Trudeau is going “all in” in bringing in so called Syrian refugees.

3) We mostly trust our journalists (bad) and embrace the state broadcaster.

My grade 12 history consisted of non-stop US bashing. We loved progressives like Wilson of course. But damn you Yankies and Vietnam and Grenada and the Contras, ect, ect.

Canada follows the US pattern to some degree. Liberal in the major cities, and conservative in rural areas. The swing votes come in suburban areas, which the left has an advantage in right now.

Yes, but the bastards in the RCMP, who are frankly an organization high on power with virtually no accountability, continues to “reclassify” firearms to make them illegal.

“Canada follows the US pattern to some degree.”

While that’s true, Canada’s “constitution” treats it’s citizens as “subjects,” not people with “certain inalienable rights!” All of their “Human Rights Commission” $hit would not be tolerated here.

Oh, believe me I know. Our kangaroo courts are horrible. Criticizing the functionary of one of those courts got myself and some conservative friends in big trouble here. For those not aware these commissions:

1) Will take complaints from third parties who don't suffer harm (so some white guy in Toronto can complain on behalf of the Jewish committee)

2) If the third party win they get the damages personally

3) Right to counsel is never offered or conceded

4) Truth is not a defense - only have to prove that what you “said” may or may not harm minorities now or sometime in the future.

5) While it has not been tested, technically, the real courts will uphold the judgments. So for example, if you are judged and decide to ignore the injunction you could be in contempt of court and do jail time

6) The British Columbian tribunal backed off when a complaint reached them against Mark Steyn and Macleans magazine. The lesson here is the weak, and unknown are the real victims here. They want this stuff done in the dark, and that case against Macleans would have exposed them for what they are.

One example, the Alberta Human Rights commission ruled against a pastor that wrote a letter to the editor condemning homosexuality. He now has a PERMANENT injunction against talking about the said subject.
