Same here. There are several Model S' near where I live (Chicago area) and a fair number of them in the city and I see them on the roads in the winter doing just fine.
I have heard that the battery life is a little diminished in the extreme cold weather but not bad enough that someone wouldn't make it where ever they needed to go.

With a gas engine and a bottle of water you will survive for days. With electric your bottle of water will freeze and you will die of thirst or hypothermia.
