50 years today July 29, 1967 the USS Forrestal Fire took place. This 2917 calendar lines up on the exact day.
Five planes. Doesn't that make him an ace?
Some things never change.
And he immediately got off the ship, leaving the others behind. He’s a low life and always has been.
John McCain is probably the only person in the history of aircraft carriers who couldn’t find one single person aboard ship to say something positive about him. And a carrier is a big honking ship!
Seems the truth isn’t a McInsane thing, so lie about him as much as he lies about others.
Read the comments, it is fake news...
Yes, this was one of the 5 in his Russian Ace count. 1960 - Corpus Christi bay. Too low on his power to maintain level flight in a turn (he lied and said the engine quit). 1961 - flew into power lines in Spain, causing a massive blackout. He did get the badly damaged plane back to the carrier (No indication he lied about this incident). 1965 - ran out of gas while flying a taxpayer owned plane, at taxpayer expense, to a football game. (He lied and said there was an explosion in the engine, but no sign of that was found. He got the official report amended to ‘failure or malfunction’ of an engine part. 1967 Forrestal - McCain lied and said a missile hit his plane. The official report found that White’s plane, not McCain’s was hit. 1967 crash in North Viet Nam. McCain said he was shot down by enemy fire, but I don’t think anyone has researched the Vietnamese records.
In any event, we have three documented lies by McCain; clearly conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman. But an Academy graduate and son and grandson of senior admirals has to be protected by the service, doesn’t he?
Who is a low life?
I think that John M. Should retire and go the way of the earth, but he is all that, in government and he thinks he knows it all. :(((((
He should at least retire and let some young people do better or sadly the same crap John M. has done.
His colleagues in Congress will say nice things about him...
” An A-4, near him, was struck by a Zuni missle launched by another aircraft.”
At Navy Airman school we were told exhaust from an APU caused that launch.
They shuffled McScrewup off that ship so the accident report could be created.
“His colleagues in Congress will say nice things about him...”
Big whoop. We already know what liars they are.
I wonder how long his other wife, Lindsey Graham, will wear black when the old goat passes on?
I did my first cruise in 1968/69 as a newbe naval avaitor, I heard all of those stories about McCain in ready rooms, mess, and idle chit chat.
It was said at the time that McCain actually shot himself down by releasing his bomb load too low.
His leaving the ship without orders would be considered desertion. This void between his leaving the ship visiting his daddy Admiral in London smacks of pleading to daddy to get him out of a jam (again).
And then is his actions while a POW, he collaborated pure and simple.
It's the only time in his entire miserable existence that people who actually know him say nice things about him.
Small wonder he refuses to retire!
Excellent assessment!
